Entries not accepted, did not enter, withdrew?

[edit]

It would be interesting if someone knowledgeable in the subject would comment on why the Cuban teams has, at times, not been accepted by FIFA, and why Cuba has withdrawn from tournaments. Was it for political reasons? Did they not enter World Cup qualifying tournaments out of political or financial considerations? Poldy Bloom (talk) 18:44, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be interested too. The 1994 World Cup could certainly be finances or politics. It was held in the US, but Cuba was still in dire financial straits after the collapse of the USSR. Can anyone help? -Rrius (talk) 20:19, 21 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sources

[edit]

Very little is ever published online about the Cuban team. Is there a good site anywhere on the web to get info about players and their birth date, club, caps, goals, etc? JohnnyPolo24 (talk) 19:01, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Change in Rules?

[edit]

Looking at the current squad, I see plenty of players called-up from foreign clubs who've played in at least one international game for Cuba, which wouldn't have been allowed before due to the political situation. However, there's no mention of any changes in the article itself. Should be updated. SonOfPlisskin (talk) 15:00, 29 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
